By "original copy", does that mean that you have the original audio? Thanks for sharing the screen caps!

I see nothing wrong with this scene-and I happen to be Jewish.

That's great, Duck! That lets you compare it to all of the later copies. Some of the older cartoon prints you have access to must differ quite a bit from some of the later releases.

  9. Who actually animated this? One would think Art Babbit did it since he did all the scenes with the Wolf, but I've heard that Norm Ferguson might've done it.

  10. As far as I know, Ferguson did all the animation of the Wolf in the cartoon

  11. Then where did Art Babbit come in (Leonard Maltin specifically credits Babbit for the Wolf's animation on a psecial feature for the Goofy Treasure)

  12. No animation of the Wolf by Babbit AFAIK.

I won't lie, this is pretty horrible. Disney uses the ever adored idea of 'invite a Jew into your home and he shall be a wolf in a kind man's clothing'. This is interesting to see though.

  14. anonymous,
being open-minded and kind of looney tooney myself, I've always thought that Disney's gag was about the fact that pigs would never worry about Jews, 'cause they can't eat them....-)

Disney wasn't really a subtle guy, and his cartoons weren't all that sophisticated. I think the joke here is that a Jewish mask has a big enough nose to hide the wolf's long face. Get it? Jew's have big noses. Hah hah haaa... ehhh... honestly, neither terribly offensive nor funny.

  16. I believe Art Babbitt's scenes of the wolf are first when he grabs the pigs tails but crashes into a tree, then at the end when he climbs down the chimney, burns his butt and runs away.
