Since the PD version of "Hep Cat Symphony" that's made the rounds is from a Techincolor print, instead of your normal NTA Eastmancolor print, the color loss on it isn't as bad as some of the other PDs, like "Cheese Burglar" or "Much Ado About Mutton". But it is incredibly scratchy compared to the images you've posted.

"Hep Cat Symphony" was almost a follow up to "Symphony in Spinach", a 1949 Popeye cartoon done by pretty much the same crew that also timed its gags to the music in each scene. They're both among the best cartoons to come out of Famous at the end of the 40s, when the quality of the stories was starting to slip and the animation was stiffening up.

  3. I just watched this the other day, and no it was not anywhere near this quality. I love the background art in Famous cartoons but I've never seem them look this good. I'd kill for a Famous Studios DVD that actually look like this. Thanks for sharing.
